IEEE PES MEA SBC conducted a webinar on the topic โHigh penetration of variable renewable energy into electric power systems : challenges and solutions on PES day 2023 in collaboration with IEEE PES MEA SBC of University of Moratuwa. Webinar was conducted through google meet. The webinar was held on 10th may 2023 at 6:00 PM. The webinar covered many core sub topics related to major topics which include variable renewable sources, roadmap for global energy sector, large wind systems in world, large photovoltaic system in world, challenges faced by operating electric power system with high levels of variable renewable energy: resource adequacy frequency stability, case studies of frequency stability, voltage stability.
Solutions for integrating very high levels of variable renewable energy into electric power systems which include solutions for voltage stability issues, case studies of solutions of voltage stability issues solutions for frequency stability issues ,microgrids & so on. After a thrilling Q&A session the speaker received a virtual gift. The event was concluded at 7:15 only after reviews from students & memorable group photos. The webinar allowed students to gain new steps of knowledge.
The Webinar was made up to perfection with the collective effort of both SBโs. IEEE PES MEA SBC and IEEE PES SBC University Moratuwa got positive feedback from the delegates. The webinar helped the delegates to explore a new bundle of knowledge.
